Three modes of consciousness now inhabited the cosmos: physical beings who experienced reality through bodies and senses; transcended beings who existed as organized energy, bright and distinct; and integrated beings who had applied the key, becoming part of reality's fabric while remaining aware. Humanity participated in all three. Elena Chen X—tenth generation of the founding family—served as physical humanity's ambassador to the cosmic alliance. She was young for such a role, only two hundred years old, but her lineage and training had prepared her for the responsibility.
