The Seer's Warning
Maya finds you three days after the Third Wave. She's thinner than when you last saw her, dark circles under her eyes, hands trembling with a fine constant vibration. Her escort—two of Victoria's fighters assigned to protect Safe Zone Alpha's most valuable asset—look almost as exhausted, though for different reasons. "We need to talk," Maya says. "Privately." You dismiss Miguel's concerned look with a gesture. Whatever Maya wants to discuss, it's important enough that she traveled to your warehouse in person rather than sending a message. "My office," you say, leading her to the small room you've claimed for strategic planning. It's nothing fancy—a desk, some chairs, walls covered in maps and notes—but it's private. Maya waits until the door is closed before collapsing into a chair. "Something's changed," she says. "In the future. Something I've never seen before."
